The highest rated movies
Every score on this page rests on a large number of votes gathered over a long period. That is what separates it from the popular page: a film cannot buy its way onto this list with a marketing push. It has to keep convincing people, year after year, long after the release week is over.
Why the vote count matters
A 9.2 from four hundred people and a 9.2 from four hundred thousand are different claims. Each card shows its vote count so you can weigh the score properly.
Sorting inside the list
The list arrives ranked by score. Switch Sort to Newest to find recent films that have already climbed high, which is often where the surprises are.
One genre at a time
Choose a genre chip and set Sort to Rating for the best regarded films on that shelf. It is a fast route to the acknowledged classics of a genre you are new to.
Frequently asked questions
Why are some famous films missing?
This ranking is votes only. Critical reputation, awards and box office play no part, so a well regarded film with a modest score sits lower than you might expect.
Do scores change?
Slowly. A film with hundreds of thousands of votes barely moves. Newer entries with fewer votes can still shift by a few tenths.
Are obscure titles filtered out?
Yes. When results are ranked by rating we require a substantial vote count, which keeps films with a handful of perfect scores out of the top spots.
